Welcome to the Official Homepage of Danial Ali Akbari!

I am a theoretical and computational macroeconomist. I attained a PhD in Economics from Lund University in the summer of 2021. I am currently an assistant professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Oslo in July 2022.

My research focuses on growth theory, labor dynamics, inequality, technological change and the social cost of carbon. As such my research encompasses broadly both social and environmental aspects of sustainability. In particular, I investigate how sudden changes in economic and natural variables impact inequality, welfare and productivity. My most recent studies treat human capital accumulation under threat of skill obsolescence with applications to optimal taxation, technology adoption and skill premium convexity. Other works in progress investigate generational wealth inequalities, the glass ceiling effect in income, and the distributional impact of amortization requirements in the housing market.
